A year of paddling in one map: visualising your SUP season
Most paddling happens in a summer rush, then a whole season blurs into 'a good year on the water'. How to collect a year of paddles, distances and launches you can actually look back on.

Most paddling happens in a rush over the summer, then tails off, and by winter a whole season has blurred into 'a good year on the water'. Paddle UK's membership has roughly doubled in five years, to around 90,000, so more of us than ever have a season worth remembering. A year of paddles is easy to let slip, and just as easy to keep.
A season is easy to lose
Time on the water does something good. Paddle UK's review with Sheffield Hallam University found that blue space lifts mood and lowers stress, which is a large part of why people take it up. But the sessions that do the most good are the easiest to forget: the ordinary Tuesday evening, the first paddle of spring, the one where the lake went completely still. Without a record they merge into a vague sense that it was a decent summer.
What a year looks like on a map
Collected in one place, a season stops being a blur. Every paddle you log in PaddleScout keeps its own route map and its stats, and they add up: the distance you covered over the year, the hours on the water, the launches you kept coming back to. Your saved spots show your patterns at a glance, the home water you paddle most and the places you reached only once. Scrolling back through a year of maps is a better record of a summer than any single photo.
Keep it, and share the best of it
A season worth keeping is a season worth sharing, on your terms. The standout paddles, the big-distance day or the one with the best light, you can send to a friend with a secret link, without putting your whole year in public. The rest stays private, a personal record that builds itself every time you upload.
Next spring, when you are wondering whether to get the board out, last year's map is a good argument for yes. And if you want to squeeze more days out of the season ahead, our post on the best wind speed for paddleboarding helps you pick the ones worth logging.
